2015/16 was a record year for the PSA. We gave the school £15,971 to spend on the children at Devonshire. Our main project this year was the junior playground and we were able to give the school a £10,000 contribution to the refurbishment of the junior jungle gym. As well as new equipment, a wooden gazebo, colourful benches, an external clock and a train for the infants were added to the playground. The PSA also contibuted to other projects to enhance children's experiences at Devonshire.
Fundraising activities have included the Christmas Fayre where Santa and Olaf made an appearance and there were treats and goodies for all ages. The choir treated us with their performance. £3,062 was raised at our Christmas Fayre.
Our Summer Fayre was once again an incredible day and we held our first ever Holi colour event. After the Year 6s introduced the fun, no-one could stop the colour splashing by children and adults alike. Special metion should be made to Patricia Shepherd for their £1000 donation to the event. Micky, Minnie and a Ninja turtle started our class performances off with a wonderful parade that set the stage for the fun to be had by all with stalls, activties, bouncy castles, food stalls and the infamous Devonshire tea garden. £5,641 was raised at our Summer Fayre.
Our termly discos are very popular, with the children loving the opportuity to dress up and have fun at the disco as well as showing off their dance moves. The discos raised £2,447.
We had two Bag 2 School collections this year which raised a total of £664 and our two second hand uniform sales raised £117.
As a thank you to everyone for their support of the PSA throughout the year, we hold an ice-cream social on the school field as soon as the school has broken up for the end of the summer term. We serve just shy of 1,000 portions of ice-cream free of charge to children, parents and carers, brothers and sisters of the children, grandparents, aunts, uncles and even friends of the children. This is the Devonshire PSA at its most giving!
