Information on admissions to Reception in September 2018

Children may start school in the academic year after they turn 4 years of age. If your child was born between 1 September 2013 and 31 August 2014 he or she will be eligible to apply for a place in Reception in September 2018.

Children will start school in September in the Reception classes, although this will initially be for a shortened day. The school has 90 places available which are divided into 3 classes of 30 children.

Application can be made online at www.sutton.gov.uk/info/200439/school_admissions. Online applications are recommended and can be made now.

Please note that you must still apply for a place for entry into the school if your child has a place in the Nursery. No priority is given to children who are in the Nursery.

The application must be completed and (for Sutton residents) must be returned to Sutton Local Authority or made online by the closing date. This is 15 January 2018.

Sutton Local Authority is responsible for dealing with the waiting list for entry into Reception. After the waiting list is closed, a new mid-term application must be completed to apply for a place.

For entry into the school other than into Reception in September as described above, please see below.

If you require further advice please contact the school or the admissions team at Sutton Local Authority (020 8770 5000 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).

This website aims to provide information to prospective parents as well as existing members of the school community. The school prospectus also contains information about the school.

Please contact the school if you have any questions or if you would like to visit. The Headteacher gives regular tours of the school and to be included on one of these tours, please telephone the school office.

Other admissions to the school

For details of admission to the school at any time other than into Reception in September as described above, see www.sutton.gov.uk/info/200439/school_admissions/1063/mid-term_or_in-year_admissions/3. If a place at the school becomes available in a year group for which there is a waiting list, it will be offered to the child who is at the top of the waiting list determined in accordance with the criteria for admissions set by Sutton Local Authority.

Information on admissions to the Nursery in September 2018

There is one main intake for the Nursery each year, which is in September in the Autumn term. The earliest that a child will normally be considered to join the Nursery is at the beginning of the September following their third birthday. It may, however, be possible for younger children to gain a place starting mid-way through the academic year, subject to the availability of places.

For children born between 1 September 2014 and 31 August 2015, an online application should be made before the deadline of 15 January 2018 for those children to attend the Nursery from September 2018. A link to this application can be found at the bottom of this page and is sent directly to the school.

If an application to attend nursery was made last year for a child born between 1 September 2014 and 31 March 2015, but the application was unsuccessful, another application must be made before the deadline of 15 January 2018 for the child to attend the Nursery from September 2018.

Children born between 1 September 2015 and 31 December 2015 may be able to attend the Nursery at the start of the Spring term in January 2019 if there are places available at this point. An application must be completed by the deadline of 15 January 2018.

Children born between 1 January 2016 and 31 March 2016 may be able to attend the Nursery at the start of the Summer term in April 2019 if there are places available at this point. An application must be completed by the deadline of 15 January 2018.

There are 26 places for each of the afternoon and morning sessions. We do not offer 30 hour placements.

For children born between 1 September 2014 and 31 August 2015, you will be notified by email on 30 April 2018 if your application has been successful. Please ensure we always have your up to date email address.

If you require further advice please contact the school. The school website aims to provide information to prospective parents as well as existing members of the school community. The section 'Introducing Devonshire Nursery' contains information about the Nursery. The school prospectus contains information about the school.

Please include evidence of your address with you application form - current council tax bill, or if you are a council tenant - a copy of your tenancy agreement. Alternatively, please bring proof into the school office after you have made your online application before the deadline of 15 January 2018. The same applies to evidence of social/medical reasons you wish considered.

Please contact the school if you would like to visit the Nursery or if you have any questions.
