Devonshire Primary School is a caring community, enthusiastic for everyone’s success. In the years ahead we aim to be regarded as a school which
- is happy and successful
- has high expectations for each member of the school community
- models a strong moral code
- has a waiting list for each year group.
In order to achieve this, we have identified 4 whole school focus areas which are encompassed by the 5 aspirational outcomes of the Every Child Matters agenda.
1. Raising standards
We wish to see 80%+ of our Year 6 children achieving Level 4+ in both English and Maths before they transfer to high school.
We wish to achieve 95%+ attendance each year.
2. Improving Devonshire’s environment and infrastructure
We wish to improve the quality of the learning environment throughout the Foundation Stage, KS1 and KS2 to promote high standards of safety, behaviour and achievement.
3. Developing leadership and management
We wish to promote a culture of distributed leadership at our school.
We wish to give each voice within the school community the opportunity to shape the future of our school.
4. Improving communication throughout the school community
We wish to promote the school as a gateway to extended services for our families.
We wish to promote the school's website as a hub for current information.
The image at the top of this page shows these 4 key objectives presented within a circle containing the 5 strands of the “Every Child Matters” agenda which underpin everything we try to achieve in primary education. We want our children to be safe. We want our children to be healthy. We want them to enjoy and achieve. We want them to make a positive contribution to society and we want them to develop skills and attitudes, enabling them to achieve economic well-being.
Further details of these objectives are given in this section (see menu on left).
