Welcome to our website

My name is Martin Kearsey and I am very proud to be the Headteacher of Devonshire Primary School.

The atmosphere at any school is created by the contributions of everybody within the school community.  Our school has a friendly learning environment, created by a hard-working staff team, a supportive governing body, enthusiastic parents and inquisitive children. Expectations for behaviour and learning are high from the Nursery up to Year 6.  We are looking to nurture the spirit of lifelong learning within our school whilst promoting tolerance, creativity, fairness and perseverance  personal qualities which will help our children make a positive contribution to society, now and in the future.  Our most recent Ofsted report (October 2011) recognises the direction in which we are moving. The challenge now is to become even better. We welcome the judgements of the Ofsted inspectors, but the report itself is merely a signpost towards what we are trying to achieve at Devonshire. We aim to become a source of even greater pride within the local community.

I will never tire of reminding each and every member of the Devonshire team that we all aspire to one outcome  the best possible future for each one of our children.  In practice, this means encouraging even our youngest children to set high expectations for their own performance in every aspect of school life.  We want our children to be the best they can be.  We want our children to be hungry to succeed in the classroom and in the competitive arena.  We want our children to be excellent ambassadors for Devonshire Primary when they continue their education at whichever high school is fortunate enough to inherit them.
 

The final phase of building redevelopment at Devonshire has now begun. HOCA, our architect, has produced the 3D images shown below to show us how our school will look when the work is completed. We are very excited about these images. We feel that the quality of the design - both inside and outside - make a bold statement about what we aim to achieve at Devonshire.
