School lunches

Parents may choose to provide a packed lunch or to pay for a school meal cooked on school premises. School lunches must be paid for in advance. The cost is currently £2.10 a day, £10.50 per week.

Please note that the London Borough of Sutton operates an online cash payment system for making payment for school meals - ParentPay. Cash and cheques are not accepted. For more information see payment for school meals.

School meals are planned to be healthy and nutritious. Fresh fruit is often provided as an alternative to dessert. For more information visit the school lunches section in Healthy eating at Devonshire.

Families who are in receipt of specific benefits and/or allowances may be entitled to  free school meals and milk. Details can be obtained from the School office.

Packed lunches must not contain

  • Nuts or food containing nuts
  • Glass or cans
  • Hot food or liquids
  • Sweets including chocolate
  • Fizzy drinks

As we have several children who are critically allergic to nuts, the school is a nut free zone. Any food to be consumed at school or on a school trip must not contain nuts or nut products and this includes food for class parties and cake sales.

Milk

Small cartons of milk may be ordered for children to have at their morning break. This is organised and paid for on a termly basis and there is no refund if a child is absent or does not drink the milk ordered.

Families who are in receipt of specific benefits and/or allowances may be entitled to free milk as well as free school meals. Details can be obtained from the School office.

Drinks

Children are encouraged to bring a small clear named bottle of drinking water into school that they will be able to drink during the day. A drink may also be provided for children having a packed lunch (no glass please).

Fruit

Reception and Key Stage 1 children participate in a scheme whereby free fruit and vegetables are offered as snacks during morning and afternoon play. Key Stage 2 children are encouraged to bring a piece of fruit from home which is eaten at a dedicated fruit time.

No other snacks are allowed in school.
