Paying for school meals online using ParentPay

The London Borough of Sutton has introduced a more convenient way to pay for school meals at Devonshire Primary School using a secure service called ParentPay.

Go to ParentPay to set up and check your account and to make payment for school meals. Further information below.

If your child is entitled to free school meals you are required to confirm your details with the Local Authority, even if your child does not wish to have a school dinner. Please register on line at  www.sutton.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals or call 020 8770 6953 with your National Insurance number and date of birth. This claim cannot be backdated. Important Information

The London Borough of Sutton has introduced ParentPay on the basis that it offers you the freedom to make payments whenever and wherever you like - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week  safe in the knowledge that the technology used is of the highest internet security.

You will have a secure online account, activated using a unique username and password. You will be prompted to change these and keep them safe and secure. If you have more than one child at our school, you can merge their accounts to create one login for all your children.

Making a payment is straightforward and ParentPay holds a payment history for you to view at a later date. No card details are stored in any part of the system. Once you have activated your account you can make online payments straight away.

Those parents/carers choosing to pay cash as their preferred method of payment can request a PayPoint card from the school office. You may take your PayPoint card and your payment in cash to your local PayPoint store. The nearest store to the school is Nugents News, 38 High Street, Sutton. You can enter your postcode into the 'Agent Locator' at www.paypoint.com to find your nearest store. Until your card arrives you should take the letter containing your ParentPay login and your cash payment to the  PayPoint store and the till operator will scan the barcode on this letter. PayPoint payments are recorded by ParentPay in the same way as online payments and may be seen in your payment archive. Please be aware that it may take several days for a PayPoint payment to be transferred to your ParentPay account.

Payment for school meals must be made in advance of meals being taken. Please use the email (free) or text (charged) facilty on www.parentpay.com to remind you when your account falls below an amount selected by you.

When can I log in to my account?

You will receive your activation letter from school with your unique activation login details and you will be able to activate your account and start making payments.

Which cards can I use?

Parentpay accepts the following cards:

Credit cards: Mastercard and Visa.

Debit cards: Maestro, Switch, Delta, Electron, Solo and Visa.

The school will inform you of any restrictions on the use of credit cards for some transactions.

Is it safe to make payments on the internet?

Yes. ParentPay uses leading technology to process your card transactions securely. All communication with the bank is encrypted and neither ParentPay nor the school have access to your card details.

How can I check that it is secure?

Standard website addresses begin with http. The address for a secure website will always begin with https. You will also see a padlock at the bottom/top right of the screen on the ParentPay login page and after you have logged into your account. Never enter your card details or personal data on any web page whose address does not start https.

What about our personal information?

ParentPay holds a very limited amount of information about you and your child solely for the purpose administering your account. However ParentPay does not use your personal information other than for supporting the school. ParentPay does not share or give information to any other organisations. ParentPay operates under strict guidelines set out by the Data Protection Act 1998.

Parentpay will NEVER contact you by phone, email or mail and ask you to divulge confidential information such as passwords or card numbers. If you are ever contacted by someone claiming  to be from ParentPay contact ParentPay immediately on 0845 257 5540.

I do not have a home PC so how can I use ParentPay?

Why not visit your local library, internet café or see if you can get access to a computer at work.
