End of Key Stage assessments
Each year, parents of children in Year 2 and Year 6 are invited to meetings about the national curriculum assessments held at the end of year. You may view the PowerPoint presentation given to parents of Year 2 children in February 2016 about the end of Key Stage 1 national curriculum assessments. In February 2017, Mrs Love held Maths workshops for parents of children in Reception and Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2. The aim of the workshops is to provide you with a greater understanding of how Maths is taught in school, the new “mastery” curriculum and how you can support your child’s learning at home. In February 2015, Mrs Scrivens held English workshops for parents of Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 children. In November 2015, Miss Lee and Miss Newton gave a presentation on phonics to parents of Reception children. You may view the presentation in PowerPoint, or as a pdf document. Also, see a copy of the booklet given to all Key Stage 1 children.
A further meeting is planned in the summer term for parents of Year 1 children and of children in Year 2 continuing with phonics.
English as an additional language (EAL)
Also in November 2015, Miss Lee, together with Mrs Byfield and Mrs Motala, gave a presentation to parents of children for whom English is an additional language. They provided guidance on how to help with reading at home. You may view the presentation in PowerPoint, or as a pdf document.
