In the Nursery, we aim to lay a good foundation for the children’s future, by providing a secure and stimulating environment that encourages the child’s curiosity and interest to develop.

Playing together, in a rich cultural background, children learn to co-operate and to care for each other, whilst developing confidence in themselves and their abilities through the many activities available, which include:

  • stories
  • imaginative small world play
  • music
  • sand and water
  • construction
  • role play
  • cooking
  • art activities including painting & modelling
  • drawing
  • literacy, working with sounds and writing
  • using our library
  • number games
  • science activities
  • computer activities
  • outdoor activities.

Together with our Reception classes, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. The 6 areas of learning are:

  • communication, language and literacy
  • personal, social and emotional development
  • problem solving, reasoning and numeracy
  • knowledge and understanding of the world
  • physical development
  • creative development.

Visit Curriculum outline for more information about the curriculum in the Foundation Stage and later years.
