Devonshire Primary School

Our vision statement: Devonshire Primary School is a caring community enthusiastic for everyone's success

Headteacher's welcome

Headteacher, Devonshire Primary School, SuttonOn behalf of the children, staff and governors, I would like to welcome you to Devonshire Primary School.

We hope that our website is clear, informative and easy to navigate. It is designed to give you a flavour of life at Devonshire. We are a popular three-form entry primary school in South Sutton. In our most recent Ofsted inspection (February 2015), we were judged to be a good school.

We pride ourselves on being a caring community, enthusiastic for everyone’s success, where everyone has high expectations of themselves and others in order that children succeed, both academically and socially. Giving children the best possible education and opportunities is at the centre of everything that we do.

At Devonshire, we promote the 6Rs (respect, resilience, relationships, reflectiveness, risk taking and resourcefulness) in all elements of school life. We believe that these behaviours are essential for everyone to reach their potential and develop into active and inquisitive learners, both inside and outside of the classroom.

Visitors to Devonshire comment on our friendly and welcoming ethos. I would welcome the opportunity to show you round Devonshire.

Fiona Oastler, Headteacher

Devonshire Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  The school takes notice of and adheres to all the national and local policies and guidance in regard to safeguarding children and young people. This means that we have a Child Protection Policy and procedures in place which are available on our website.  All staff (including supply staff, volunteers and governors) must ensure that they are aware of these procedures.  Parents and carers are welcome to read the policy on request.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare.  We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.
