PTA committee Print E-mail

Who are we? - we are not a clique nor are we school employees.  We are mothers, fathers, grandparents, siblings and family of the children attending Devonshire and we didn't know each other before signing up to help!

Come and meet our PTA...

Anne Marie (Chairperson) - A transplanted Yank living in South London for 12 years now, I am mother to 2 girls at Devonshire and also to my 20 year old stepson.  I work full time for a West End television production company editing and producing documentaries.  I used to be a television news presenter but have always been something of an all round party thrower/event planner.  I thought these skills (the latter) would somehow be helpful to create fresh new fundraising opportunities for the school that would be fun for parents and children alike.  Annual events like the Devonshire Tea Stall at the Summer Fayre, the Mother's Day Flower Stall, the end of year Ice Cream Social, the Christmas tree sale, the Bag2school clothing drive are now yearly traditions that began as a punt.  I joined the PTA to help make Devonshire a great school that our childen will remember fondly.  Oh, and to have a few more parties!

Siobhan (Treasurer) - I am a single mother of 3 working in 'the city' as a regulatory compliance manager in a FTSE 100 company.  I joined the PTA to use my analytical, organisational and compliance skills to optimise our PTA's potential.

Liz (Secretary) - I am a mother of 3 working part time in a local chemist.  I joined the PTA to become more involved with the school.  I help at many events including the disco and running stalls at the summer and Christmas fayres.

Vicky (Deputy Treasurer) - I am a mother of 2 and I am a voluntary reading assistant for Reception, Year 2 and Year 5 but you will also find me counting all the money we raise after each event.

Ciska - I am a mother of 2 from South Africa.  I am the mover, not the talker.  Getting involved and showing our children that we want to make their time at school even more fun is a great incentive to join the PTA.

Kate and Andy - We are parents of 4 children, 2 of whom attend Devonshire.  We are owners of a sign company and have previously supplied advertising banners for the summer and Christmas fayres.  We wanted to get more involved with the school and raise more money for the things that the children really want.  Joining the PTA is also a great way to meet new people as we have a real laugh.

Sharmini - I am from Sri Lanka and a mother of 1.  As well as studying part time, I volunteer in 2 classes.  Joining the PTA is a great opportunity to help the school raise funds.

Kerry - I am a single mother of 5 (yes 5!) children.  When I'm not driving my son to Chelsea football practice and my daughters to swimming/athletics, you'll find me getting stuck in.  Currently we hope to get a signed Chelsea football for the summer fayre (our last one raised £500).

Hine - I am from New Zealand, work part time, have 3 children, 7 grandchildren (1 in Reception) including 2 that are adopted.  I have been in early childhood education through to primary education and on committees from fund raising to Board of Trustees.  I actively support the PTA in any way.

Gabi - I am a mother of 2 including a very active 3 year old.  I am very keen to inject ideas for activities that help both the children and parents e.g. second hand uniform and wellington re-sale (wellycycle).

Madhu - I am from Sri Lanka and a mother of 3 girls at Devonshire.  I am a volunteer reading assistant for Years 1 and 3 and volunteer in the Nursery and the Shanklin play group too.  I joined the PTA to become more involved with the school and to show the children that we want to make their time at school even more fun.  It is great opportunity to help the school to raise funds.  I help at many events including the disco and running stalls at the summer fayre (international food stall) and Christmas fayre.
