4SK help an author out Print E-mail

4SK have been reading books from the series which were written by Eireann Littlefield.  They had a very special reason for reading these books as they had a very important task that the author had asked them to do; learn and sing the theme tune to her series of books and then record it for her so that she could use it for her animated series.  So on Monday 27th June, Eireann came to visit 4SK to listen to them sing and record the theme tune.  After that she came to our assembly and read one of her books to everyone, it was a book that was being published so she read to us from the only copy of the book in the whole world!  We also had the chance to ask her lots of questions.

Have a look at some of the work that 4SK have done following Eireann's visit.

Devonshire records theme tune for Maisie the Animal Minder When Eireann Littlefield came in to school we sang the  theme tune for Maisy the Animal Minder.  If you don't know who Eireann is then she is an animal minder who writes funny stories about what she does.  All the stories are true apart from the characters.

Maisy the Animal Minder is a series; the first book is called Casey and the Ducks and is published and selling all over the world.  The second, Fergus and the Deer has only one copy in the whole world and we were the first people to read it.

When we were recording the theme tune for 'YouTube' I stood up to introduce the song and we are going to be on 'YouTube', well at least some of us are.  Because I introduced it I got a free signed copy of her first book.  We got to see and meet the author, illustrator and the filmer who were all very nice.  The illustrator drew me a picture of Maisy's head which is a cartoon of Eireann's oldest daughter who is at university now.  It was great and I really enjoyed it.

On Monday 27th June Eireann Littlefield came to Devonshrie Primary School.  We discovered everything in her books really happened in her real life.  Her camper van is called Cherry, she works as an animal minder and Eireann did really look after Cassie and the ducks.  Eireann hasn't got a home because she travels around the world in Cherry so she only gets to stay in a house for 2 or 3 days.
