Introduction
Swimming on Thursdays will continue for the first half term and tennis lessons will begin this term. We look forward to any assistance parents can offer to accompany the children during these activities.
Core curriculum areas
Literacy
We will be exploring adventure and mystery stories, humorous stories, texts that play with language, word puzzles, puns and riddles and alphabetical texts. We will be comparing stories by the same author. We will also be writing letters for different purposes.

This term we will be working on place value, understanding addition and subtraction, money and real life problems, making decisions and checking results and shape, space and measurement. We will also be testing times tables this term in the mental and oral sessions.
Science
In science, we will be investigating the topics, 'Helping plants Grow Well' and 'Light and Shadow'. We will also be concentrating on designing and carrying out a 'fair test'.

Physical education (PE)
We already have a busy schedule with swimming (Thursday afternoons) and tennis, but will also focus on jumping and landing in gymnastics.
Personal, social and health education (PSHE)
We will be focusing on the topic, 'Good to be Me' from the SEAL pack.

We will be looking at sculpture in the environment, linked to our geography topic on recycling.
Design technology (DT)
We will be exploring and making frame structures.
You can help at home
Collect information about the local area and embark on your own recycling project at home. Please help your child practise spellings and listen to your child read at home regularly. Continue to assist children with their homework and ensure that their PE kits and swimming kits are in school on the correct days.
A half term project on Roman Britain will be given.
