Introduction
We are looking forward to our themed week, London Week where we focus on transport, our sports day and the arrival of long, summer days!
Core curriculum areas
Literacy
This term we read books by Anne Fine and Judy Blume. We explore the themes of issues and dilemmas in a variety of texts, playscripts, persuasive writing and a selection of poetry.
Numeracy
We will continue to learn a variety of strategies for developing number work. We put emphasis on learning tables and being able to calculate mentally. We will study place value, counting and number sequences, calculating (involving the four operations), fractions, handling data, shape and measuring.
Science
Our two topics this term are 'Solids, Liquids and How They Can Be Separated' and 'Habitats'. We will be participating in practical investigations and learning new scientific vocabulary.

Information and communication technology (ICT)
We will be studying a unit called 'Modelling Effects On Screen' and will become familiar with Textease and Logo.
Foundation subjects
Geography
The topic for this term is rivers. We learn about rivers and the effects they have on the landscape by erosion and deposition of materials. We learn about the water cycle and carry out a practical study of the River Wandle in Morden Hall Park.
Religious education (RE)
We will learn about Jesus and his followers.
Personal, social and health education (PSHE)
Our themes will be 'Relationships' and 'Changes', which we will explore through circle time.
Art
We will use our sketchbooks in our study of rivers.
Design and Technology (DT)
We will design, make and evaluate money containers.
Physical education (PE)
We have lots of fun playing rounders and develop our athletic skills ready for Sports Day, which is at the end of term.
You can help at home
It is important that children arrive at School punctually and a letter sent to School if your child is away.
Please listen to your child read 4 times a week and help them learn their spellings and tables.
