Devonshire Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The school takes notice of and adheres to all the national and local policies and guidance in regard to safeguarding children and young people. All staff (including supply staff), volunteers and governors must ensure that they are aware of these procedures.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare.  We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.

The school is taking part in a project that runs jointly between schools and the Metropolitan Police, known as Operation Encompass.

The project is aimed at strengthening safeguarding and protective factors for children. Under Operation Encompass, where the police are called out to an incident of domestic violence in the case of a household that includes children at school, their school will be notified of the call-out by the following morning of the next school day.
