Outdoor learning is very important to our children and we are always looking for ways to take learning outside of the classroom, and utilise our outdoor space.
At Devonshire, we have created our very own Woodland area, tucked away in the tree lined edge of the school field. All children have the opportunity to take their learning outside of the classroom and into the Woodland area. Mrs Page, our woodland teacher, plans activities and challenges linked to the learning that the children are doing in class and for at least half a term of the school year, they have a weekly lesson in the Woodland area.
The activities and challenges are always practical, require team work and the children to use all of our 6Rs (our school values) to successfully complete them.
The children’s learning in the Woodland project is recorded in their class Woodland project book that travels through the school, with the class.
