    School uniform policy

    It is school policy that all children wear school uniform when attending school or when participating in a school organised event outside normal school hours.

    The policy for school uniform is based on the notion that school uniform

    • promotes a sense of pride in the school;
    • engenders a sense of community and belonging toward the school;
    • is practical and smart;
    • makes children feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance;
    • is regarded as suitable wear for school and is considered by parents/carers as good value for money; and
    • is designed with health and safety in mind.

    The school uniform policy is an integral part of the school's commitment to equality and inclusion. The governing body believes the school uniform policy allows all pupils to establish a shared Devonshire identity and celebrate what they have in common, whilst respecting diversity.

    Children are allowed to wear small ear studs only which will need to be removed for PE and swimming. Children in Key Stage 2 may wear a simple analogue or digital watch (not smart watches).
