Absence from School

Reporting an absence from school.

Please use the space below to tell us about your child's absence. Please include their name, class and details of the reason for absence.

Absence from school

If your child is not well enough to attend school please telephone 020 8643 1174 and leave a message on the answerphone on the morning on the first day of absence or call in at the school office or complete the form above.

Unless you are able to say when your child will be returning to school in this first message, please contact the school again each day your child remains at home.

You must provide a brief note to the class teacher on the day your child returns to school explaining why your child was absent.

Should you send your child to school when he or she has a cough, a cold, a raised temperature, diarrhoea, vomiting, measles or chicken pox? Read our leaflet below to find out the answer for these and other symptoms and illnesses.

Children are not allowed to leave the school premises during school hours without permission. If you need to take your child out of school for a medical appointment, please inform your child's class teacher and the school office.

Holidays in term time

Parents and carers will not be given permission to take children out of school during term-time for holidays. If holidays are taken in term-time parents and carers are liable to receive a fixed penalty fine.

If there are exceptional reasons why a parent or carer wishes to take a child out of school during term-time an application must be made in advance and in writing addressed to the Headteacher.
