- CHESTNUT Class Swimming26/02/24 - 01/03/24We are delighted that we will be continuing swimming lessons in the Spring Term. As swimming is part of the National Curriculum it is compulsory for every student. All girls are required to wear a swimming costume and boys must wear swimming trunks and not the long Bermuda style shorts. ALL children are required to wear a swimming hat. Please ensure that you provide a suitable bag for the swimming kit, NOT a carrier bag as these tend to break very easily.

- Year 1 to Year 6 ONLY - Alice in Wonderland ShowWe have organised a performance of Alice in Wonderland from M and M Productions, as part of our World Book Day theme of Alice in Wonderland. The play will be presented by a professional theatre company with extensive experience in delivering captivating shows for young audiences. If you do not want your child to watch this show, please e-mail office@devonshire.sutton.sch.uk by Monday 4th March and in the subject please put “Alice in Wonderland show”

World Book Day

- Bag2SchoolYour child/children will be coming home with a Bags2School bag, to be filled with clothes and brought back to school ON Thursday 7th March. Please deliver them to the blue fieldhouse (by the end of school entrance) before 9am. Please DO NOT bring any bags in before this date as we have nowhere to store them.
- World Book DayWe are celebrating World Book Day at Devonshire Primary School. We would love the children to dress up on this day. Reception children to come dressed as a character from a Julia Donaldson book and Year 1 to Year 6 children to come dressed as a character from Alice in Wonderland. We would love the children to dress up but please do not feel that you have to spend money on a brand new costume for them.

- Wellbeing Awareness - Coffee Afternoon14:00 - 15:00Danielle Schbero a clinical Psychologist who is the lead for the Education Wellbeing Service in Sutton and Madeline West the school’s own Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner will be joining us for the coffee afternoon to discuss any questions you may have in regards to friendships.

Year 2 ONLY - Leeds Castle Trip

- Year 2 ONLY - Leeds Castle Tripwe would like to take Year 2 children to visit Leeds castle in Kent. This visit will be part of our history topic ‘Why do we have castles’? which will enrich their learning on the features and purpose of castles. Your child will need a packed lunch and a drink (NO food containing Nuts and NO cans or fizzy drinks please) OR if you would like Devonshire Primary School to supply a packed lunch for free, please send a note into the school office by Thursday 29th February 2024. A small rucksack will make it much easier to carry their lunch. The children will travel by coach, leaving immediately after registration at 8:50am and returning to school by 3:15pm (Traffic permitting). School uniform is to be worn. Please remember that your child will need to bring a coat.

- Year 5 Viking WorkshopDuring the workshop, the children will have the opportunity to learn about why the Saxons and Vikings came to Britain, the historical battles that occurred, how the Vikings feasted and their different customs and beliefs. On this day children we need to attend school in their school uniform. To help with the cost of this fun and informative day, we are kindly asking for a contribution of £9.95. Please make your contribution by Friday 8th March 2024.
- Red Nose DayThe children are invited to dress in red, comic relief merchandise or an outfit that makes them happy. We will not actively be collecting donations but the School Council will be raising awareness of the charity over the day.
